This North Africa regional assessment study on land policy has been prepared by experienced land experts from the region and has benefited inputs from a wide range of stakeholders including representatives of Governments, Civil Society, Private Sector, Centres of Excellences and Development Partners, during a regional multi-stakeholder consultation led by the Community of Sahel Saharan States (CEN-SAD).

The study discusses key land issues and challenges, provides information on the status of land policy development and implementation and draws lessons from land policy processes in the region. This regional assessment helped to enrich the Framework and Guidelines on Land Policy in Africa with regional specificities and perspectives from North Africa. The AUC-ECA-AfDB Land Policy Initiative Consortium hopes that this publication will be useful to all stakeholders, especially Governments, Civil Society Organisations and Development Partners, in their efforts to promote experience sharing, document best practices in the land sector and build capacity for effective land policy development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
